New in Non Fiction

What's it like to be an animator or a chef? Ever wondered? Maybe you want to know more about being a video game developer or a choreographer? If so, you might be interested in a new series at the library. It's called the On the Job series and is chock-full with pictures and information of what it would be like to hold these jobs. Check it out at the Decatur Public Library!!

Storytimes!!

Yay! Storytimes have started back and we are so excited!! Today we read the book Hop Jump by Ellen Stoll Walsh and practiced our frog jumping skills. We even danced like falling leaves!! It was fun picking out the patterns in the book and creating patterns of our own. We made cute little frog faces to take home and sang a few songs. Did you miss storytime today? Gone Are the Azaleas...

For years and years we’ve had the most beautiful azalea bushes greeting patrons at the entrance of the library. As it seems with azaleas, two or three weeks out of the year they bloom and are most magnificent. When they are in full bloom it is a recurring question at the front desk, “What kind of bushes are those. They’re beautiful!”

Yes, they’re beautiful but they have grown and overtaken the entrance to the library and many of us feel they’ve become a safety hazard for those coming and going in the early morning and late evening hours. So the azaleas are being removed this morning. It is sad to see them go. Many of us on staff have taken cuttings from the plants in hopes that these plants can live on in our yards. I just want to leave you with some pictures of the azaleas in all their glory!
