Field Trip--Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

 Have extra family in town and looking for things to do that won't cost you anything?  How about a walk in the woods while reading a book? Special thanks to Decatur's Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge for allowing us to place the pages of a story along one of their trails.  We hope to enhance your visit to the Refuge with the classic story titled, Over in the Meadow illustrated by Ezra Jack Keats.  Look for this story to hit the trails on December 26th!

Starting Friday, December 26, you can find the story just beyond the boardwalk behind the visitors center.

Dance Party

Kids ages 3 through 1st grade will enjoy this lively time of music and movement.  Kids must be accompanied by an adult and adults are welcomed and encouraged to join in on the fun!

A Storywalk in November

The Storywalk project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Children 5 and younger are invited to come in costume and join us in the children's department Tuesday, October 28th for a special Halloween storytime.

My Very First Book Club

Homeschooling families are invited to join us for a special book club for young readers.  Read as many of Kevin Henkes books as you would like.  Come to class for a brief storytime and discussion of this author's works.  This is a way for children to get used to the idea of discussing what they enjoyed most about the books they've read.

Finding Book Levels

We know there are many of you looking for books on your child's reading level.  Sometimes it can be difficult to know just where to look.  We want to share some simple instructions on how to get accelerated reader information about some of the books in our collection.  The catalog can be found at this link:  Library's Catalog

Also, we have a small notebook with many of our older book titles and the Accelerated Reader information about those titles.  We will be happy to assist you with using this notebook or feel free to use this notebook on your own.
